Somato-emotional release Working with Trauma

One person's hands gently holding another's in a reassuring gesture

Trauma can affect not just our thoughts and emotions, but also our bodies. Even when we understand experiences intellectually, the nervous system may still carry their effects, showing up as anxiety, tension, overwhelm or numbness.

In my trauma work, I combine talking therapy with somato - emotional release, gently exploring both the emotional story and physical responses held in the body. Somato - emotional release recognises the mind - body connection, helping the body safely release stored stress or emotional energy through gentle body work, awareness of sensations and guided support. The process is slow, respectful, and client-led, promoting relief, integration and greater self connection. Sessions are 90 minutes, combining discussion and body focused work. A minimum of six sessions is recommended to achieve the best results.
